The noise protection can be active or passive. The active noise protection is accomplished by the engineers responsible for the development of the automotive-technology; it is the passive protection where our company can play a huge role. The passive protection is, in fact, the reduction of the noise burden on the transmission path, i.e. between the noise emitter and the recipient, e.g. the air distance between the vehicles and the residents living near the motorway.
By roads, motor- and railways, airports, the most cost-effective solution for noise protection is to construct noise barriers.
KOBOX markets the excellent quality products of the German FERRONDO company. The products of the FERRONDO group are tested and CE-certified products which deservedly win the favour of more and more transport building investors, due to their exceptionally aesthetic and environmentally friendly look, furthermore novel innovativeness.
The gabion construction technology has reached all parts of the world, therefore we can also observe it along the high-speed railway on the way from Nürnberg to Ingolstadt, where Arch-shaped Noise barrier Gabions are installed. The almost 3100m long noise barrier was constructed by the three chamber system in the vicinity of Limburg.
Between the stone-filled outer chambers, there is an absorbing sheet and a sized reinforced-concrete core installed, which, besides its noise absorption ability, bears the wind’s burden and other static and dynamic effects.
The arch-shaped baskets are delivered on pallets to the construction site. The fast assembly process happens on site, and the filling is implemented by loader machines. One of the main benefits of the system is its cost-effectiveness and speed. The statically ideal circular cross-section does not require tensioning or spacer elements, bottom- or top grid. The innovative mechanism and filling method allow the creation of a homogeneous structure through its whole height and cross-section; furthermore the dimensional stability ensures an optimal load distribution. Besides its technical and economic advantages, public feedback also shows that the system is aesthetic and human friendly.
The benefits of the Ferrondo Noise Barrier:

- No spacer or bracer hooks required
- Cost-effective filling process, simple machines
- Aesthetic look, despite the inexpensive filling material
- Rounded appearance
- Variable lines
- 1-2- or even 3-chambered structure
- Individual filling possible
- Unique appearance

Ferrondo combines functionality and design in an excellent way. The cylindrical structure facilitates a number of execution methods. The round boxes can be built together in two ways: they can constitute a columnar or a binding arrangement. The connecting system can be built with further soil or concrete core filling, so it becomes a noise protection but still natural-looking wall. The natural stone surface on the visible side allows it to perfectly fit into the landscape. The combination of the different materials – outside stone, inside soil – offers additional opportunities: climbing plants can be installed into
the structure. Besides the positive time and financial factors, the Ferrondo gabion is not only an effective protection system, but also an extra - in terms of aesthetics - for the residents.
The construction of the noise barrier is, of course, possible of flat-surfaced gabions as well. The two types can even be combined.
The walls structured with this method not only function well, but are also aesthetic and natural looking. Furthermore, we can boldly say that they fit well into the landscape as being filled with materials from local mines. Their look is not characterized by industrial features, therefore they are also suitable to common areas of towns and suburban areas.
The walls' monotony can be resolved with different filling combinations (e.g. two different stone-fillings of contrasting colours) or climbing plants.
Besides the aesthetic benefits, we also find important the environmental aspects: we work with a recyclable structure in which natural materials are installed. It does not pollute the environment and does not get ruined from the winter salting, does not fade, is extremely persistent, fast to build and also cost-effective!
